Ron,

It's not an issue of politicizing anything. MDOsprey was set up with
fairly narrow lines of interest and the owners of the list simply arent
interested in widening them.

Where you live and which bird club you decide to belong to are not
relevant issues. MDOsprey is privately owned and unaffiliated
with the Maryland Ornithological Society. A lot of MOS news gets
discussed here from time to time simply because many Maryland
birders belong to MOS, but MDOsprey is neither paid for nor
sanctioned by MOS.

The volume of mail about places other than Maryland is beginning to
push some Maryland birders away from the list and back toward
private e-mail groups, as things were often done in the past. This
would be a serious loss to every Maryland birder, a grave slip
backwards in terms of the open sharing of information about Maryland
birds.

If I have to make sarcastic comments from time to time to keep this
from happening, then so be it.

I appreciate your wanting one list that answers all of your needs for
Middle Atlantic information but I certainly don't want MDOsprey to
be that list.

Best,
Norm
