Here's my first contribution to the new "Greg Miller Shorebird Net": The "Public Container Pad" outside of Upper Marlboro (where the Eurasian Wigeon was for 2 winters) pond is very low this year (duh) and yesterday had at least 2 Sollys, a spotty and several Leasts. Last year it was quite a good spot right thru October. It was much lower last year, when i first started looking in August. The other great thing about it is that it is a recycling drop-off! Of course, i guess most folks have curbside these days, for for we-sorts out in the sticks, its a great way to "justify" all that gas over a bunch of silly shorebirds :) There are also Meadowlarks in the adjacent field, which i anyway don't hear much from anymore. Best to go there before noon (it opens at 7) because light is better. It is open 7 days. danny bystrak jug bay
