    Marshall,

Thanks for providing so much information about shorebirding sites in
MD. And I have to say that I agree with Paul W.- lets keep the shorebird
info on MDOsprey. If that creates too many messages in our e-mailboxes
then we may have to cut back on the butterfly and tick postings.

One thing I noticed about your list of shorebird sites is that none of
them are in Montgomery county. I only have occasional access to a car and
rarely have all day to make a trip, so knowledge of locations closer to
home (as John Belushi would say) "is good." Are there any Montgomery
county birders out there who would like to speak up for our fair county?

Last year I had luck in one surprising place- the Father Hurley
Boulevard exit off of I-270 in Germantown. There is a muddy/wet area on
the northbound side of I-270 immediately south of F H Blvd. The shoulder
on 270 is wide enough to park on, but I'm not sure if it's legal or not
to park there. One stop there last year turned up 6 or 7 species of
shorebird (peeps and yellowlegs mostly. Mostly). I haven't stopped there
this year yet. If I do, I'll report what I see.

  Good birding to all!
