Marshall & Fellow Shorebirders,

Shorebirds were pretty scarce at a number of Allegany Co. shorebird
sites this weekend. On Saturday, the 17th, the Rouge Lagoon / PPG Ponds
(North Branch) had:

1 Green Heron (heard)
1 Spotted Sandpiper
5 Killdeer

while the Potomac River at Cumberland had:

1 Great Blue Heron
1 Green Heron

Similar results on Sunday, the 18th. At PPG, a half dozen Killdeer.

On the Potomac at Cumberland:

2 Great Blue Heron
3 Green Heron
1 Lesser Yellowlegs

The tarps over the ponds at PPG (North Branch) are very dry. In recent
years, these tarps have seemed to be more productive than the former
Rouge Lagoon which has become somewhat overgrown. With only a few birds
on the tarps, I did not make the trek back to the Rouge Lagoon on either
day.

Allegany County is very dry.

Happy Trails ....
