Ruff -seekers and now Dowitcher-twitchers:
This evening my wife and I joined Tom Field at the Easton Waste Water
Treatment Facility for an evening view of the Ruff. He was still there and
in great viewing light at 6:20 p.m. The sign-in sheet indicated 21
visitors for 7/24.

Not having read the Jim Stasz email, we looked at the beautiful lone
Dowitcher that basked in the lovely gentle light near the north end of the
pond, and jumped to the non-expert conclusion that it must be a richly
colored Short-billed Dowitcher, since the Long-billeds probably are not
around here this time of the year. I pondered the heavy striping all along
the sides of the belly, but did not have the confidence or experience to
know for sure. No vocalizations from him were heard. He was present from
5:00 to 6:20 in the same general spot, taking second place to the Ruff in
our focus of attention.

The bottom line - looks like there are two really good birds over there
for the birders to enjoy! A sign-in sheet is on the back of a truck by
the entrance gate, if operators are not present, and even a set of signs is
provided to aim the visitors towards the correct pool to see the
bird/birds. 7 am to 7 pm hours of service.

Good Birding
