Ah, but July has ALWAYS been the hot time for shorebirds in the midAtlantic region -- when we see most of our Red-necked Stints, Curlew SPs, etc. The drought (and consequent dryness of impoundments on the Delaware Bay) and the unremitting heat that is keeping a lot of folks indoors may reduce the chance of sightings, but everyone should be alert, Witness the Mongolian Plover just reported yesterday in Rhode Island -- next stop, Delaware (or Maryland...?)
