Amy and I, and friends, did a little mid-shore tour Sunday (7/24). Easton Sewage Ponds (about 2 pm) Ruff - 1 Stilt Sandpiper - 1 etc. John Brown Road Turf Farm Killdeer - 50 Upland Sandpiper - 1 Least Sandpiper - 3 The latter location (which had good numbers of golden plovers and Buff-breasted Sandpiper last fall) is reached from the Rt. 50/301 split, take Rt. 301 N, then turn right on John Brown Road. There is an area of turf immediately on your right. Then go through the woods and large turf areas are both N and S of the Road. Much of the area to the S has been recently harvested, and the several muddy rainpools had the Least Sands and most of the Killdeer. The area N of the road is partially planted to crops, but beyond the house is a large area of turf. The Uppie was feeding quite close to the road in the small short-grass turf field immediately N of the house. Mark Hoffman Mhoff36100@aol.com
