I had a percussion professor once with the same attitude. He wouldn't let us 
take notes because, "If it's not worth remembering, it's not worth writing 
down." Mmmmm. 
Love the book, but I use all of the time-necessary-for-memorizing-bird-order 
in and for my other life. 

I vote for an index :>)
