Re the Wormeating - our records from Rock Creek Park last year indicate
that this warbler is one of the earliest species recorded at the west ridge --
first week in August was when this area started to be watched last year. The
general thought is that these are post-breeding wanderers from local areas.
In fact, Wormeating was found on most days, the last date being September
26 although I assume most birds recorded are actual migrants.

Interestingly enough, however, two other very early species at Rock Creek
last year were Canada and Blackburnian, which do not breed locally.

Our British visitor is anxious to see Wormeating so we will be out at Rock
Creek in the am starting tomorrow to see if the same pattern holds. Will
report results...
