At 7:00 this morning I spotted an interesting looking bird at the top of a dead snag behind the house. At first I thought it might have been an Imm red-headed wp because of the initial impression of large white wing patches. After grabbing the scope and getting a good look at the bird I realized it was an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER. It remained at the top of the snag for a couple minutes and flew up to catch insects 3 times. It flew off and I spent the next hour canvassing the area trying to relocate it with no luck.(Did find 40 PURPLE MARTINS). It may reappear at any time though and I will keep a close watch. Last fall I had 2 OSF that stayed all day and many folks got over to see them. Bonnie Ott (Ellicott city, howard County) P.S. Yesterday I had a song sparrow and Juv. Chippy at the feeder!
