I visited Point Lookout State Park this morning (8-9-99) to see if the Red-necked Phalarope was still present - it was. It was feeding close to the road in the same pond. So close to the edge of the pond that occasionally it was not visible from the road. It had 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 2 Least Sandpipers and 1 Killdeer for company. Other birds of interest were hundreds of Common Terns (at least 300), 2 Royal Terns, 1 Brown Pelican, 1 immature GREAT CORMORANT, and a Pine Warbler trying to eat a large insect in the middle of Route 5. I saw the phalarope from 8 am to 8:45 am. Good Birding, Patty Craig
