On the rising tide in the early afternoon (1350 to 1510 EDT) Sunday,
22 Aug, the surprisingly small (& shrinking) delta flats to the West
of the GW Parkway bridge held good numbers (and a good diversity) of
shorebirds (if one ignored the White Pelican off to the East of the
bridge over the already flooded bar):

     Killdeer 30+
Greater Yellowlegs 49 (with 2 more flying off E of the bridge)
     Lesser Yellowlegs 23
     Semipalmated Sandpiper c 18
     Western Sandpiper 2
     Least Sandpiper 110
     White-rumped Sandpiper 2 (ad)
     Pectoral Sandpiper 14
     Short-billed Dowitcher 8
Long-billed Dowitcher 1 (seemingly same bird on & off since 31 July)

     Laughing Gull 115
     Ring-billed Gull 280
Caspian Tern 28 ad, 13 im
     Forster's Tern 89 ad, 6 im
