Brian Monk and I spent an hour yeaterday morning at Bosley
Conservancy. Landbird migratin has started (a trickle). Highlights
included:

Magnolia Warbler 2
American redstart 3
Black-and-white Warbler 1
Chectnut-sided Warbler 1
Wilson's Warbler 1
LEAST FLYCATCHER 1

The Least, although not an especailly rare bird, is in caps because
it is my 224th bird this year in Harford County, tying the big year record
set by Dave Webb. I decided to try for the record only after considerably
nagging by Dave, who has kept me from backsliding all summer. He has even
gone so far as to find some good birds and call me.
I now think it is possible to end the year between 235-240. I think
the record can be broken again but it will take a determined effort. I
fully expect Matt Haffner to own it in a couple of years. If everything
works, 250 is possible. Higher than that will depend on luck and on
Hart-Miller Island breaking loose and floating into Harford waters. Thanks
to all who have helped, and if you happen to get any winter finches at your
feeder, please call. A very early and exceptionally strong movement of
Red-breasted Nuthatches in the East and an early movement (not so strong
but notable) of Evening Grosbeaks suggests we might have an invasion by
some species.
