Howdy All! George Jett and I were at Assateague yesterday morning from 6:30-9:00am. We checked both sides of the road on the eastern side of the Rt 611 bridge to Assateague and could not find the reported bird. We did do an Eastern Shore Big Day yesterday. Hence, the reason for this late post. And yes, we did break our old, ridiculously small record from last week, but by a most humbling amount (it wasn't much). I'll post the results early this week [after my face quits burning from blushing]. August is not a really fun time to do a Big Day either. And who would be foolish enough to waste two perfectly good days, TWO weeks in a row...? Oh, well. On a good note, my new yardlist is now at 50 after only two weeks and hardly any birding time. Hmmm. Maybe I should do a Big Day here? <grin> I had both tanagers (Scarlet(2) and Summer(1)) pass through this morning as well as E Wood Pewee (2), E Phoebe (1), and Acadian Flycatcher (1), a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (1), Prairie Warbler (3), Red-eyed Vireos (2). Also, I saw my first Forster's Tern this morning as well as 8 Double-crested Cormorants. -Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
