I got there at 4:15pm and it was closed. I thought they stayed open until 5 ... oh well. >> Last Wed we used "Hayman, et al Shorebirds..."as a reference. On Thursday, Dot Gustafson pulled out Paulson's "Shorebirds of the Pacific Northwest" & found some invaluable help. Paulson describes the occasional "very bright" semi-palm which most probably is what our "Stint" was. The drawing from the Yukon showed a bright, white "V" on the Stint's back and Paulson's book also mentioned that mark. Our bird had a very faint mark. Our "Stint" had a dark "webbing" effect on the head which extended further down the side of the head. Paulson has a photo of a Semi-palm with exactly that characteristic. Some of the feather colors were correct for both birds but in the wrong places for a Stint. All in all, we had a delightful time with this escapade & are learning parts & details of birds that I never knew existed. I'm just hoping that the dentist will be able to cap my gnashed teeth.......the champagne is in the cupboard until another day. Phil, thanks for your interest & help, Gail Frantz
