Hi,

This was sent yesterday 9-17-99 and I thought it was going back to MD
Osprey, but it was sent to only Abbie.

Sorry this is now out-dated,

Abby and all,

Pt. Lookout is open now with the fishing pier just opening about 5 PM. I checked
there this morning just after the park opened about 9 AM and again at 4:30 PM.
This morning there was little going on as far as water birds are concerned except
for hundreds of Double-crested Cormorant. But this evening there were hundreds
of terns feeding. I saw Leo Wiegant there and we watched the terns for some time
and saw nothing unusual. He had a Black Tern before I arrived.

In the field on the left just after you pass Cornfield Harbor Road on Route 5
there was a puddle this morning that had a Little Blue Heron, both yellowlegs, a
Stilt Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper and Least Sandpiper
plus a Black Tern.

I think even though I have not found anything at Point Lookout it is still well
worth the effort since birds are still moving down the bay and rivers. St.
George's Island is worth a look. I don't know if anyone has looked there since
the road was closed. There were also a lot of terns off Elms Beach today around
noon and Kitt's Point around 4:30 PM yesterday.

I hope this helps,
Patty Craig
