Hurricane Chasers -- I have a fairly miserable personal history in seeking hurricane blown bird in Maryland, and the streak continues ... Personnel and work obligations made birding on Thursday and Friday difficult, but here goes: Thursday morning I was able to spend about 20 minutes watching the barely visible Bay from the North Point, Baltimore County, VA hospital (from about 1030-1050). Score one Forster's Tern, and a flock of 10 Bank and 1 Barn Swallow feeding over the lawn. Thursday pm I was on Kent Island, at Hemingway's Restaurant, from 230 pm to 530 pm. Small numbers of the regular terns, most in the flooded field by the airport. Others were there from about 9 am and did no better. Friday I was at Hooper's Island, Dorchester County, from 1230 to 1530 with a nice view of the Bay. No bird movement (other than 8 American Kestrels headed north). Most of the terns (65 Forster's and 2 Royals on the flats by the first bridge). Hoping for another one! Mark Hoffman
