Hi, With the recent / current discussion on MDOsprey list about Common Nighthawk migration, I thought the following would be of interest. This morning on the PABIRDS list there was a report of a Nighthawk watch from Allegheny County, which is adjacent to/encompasses Pittsburgh. If anybody not on that list wants me to email the message, let me know privately and I will email it to them. I will say that the peak days for this count were as follows: Aug. 22 - Aug. 27. On those days (one of which received no coverage!) 1443 out of the total of 1775 nighthawks passed. The nighthawkwatch went from August 5 to September 6. By the way, the rate of yesterday's Monarch migration past my office window in downtown Bethesda decreased after lunch, to 1 every 2 to 5 minutes.
