Hello to everyone. A new life bird for me this afternoon: Connecticut warbler at Cromwell Valley Park (near Towson). Seen about 3 PM. Description: My notes taken on the spot say "gray hood; prominent, full eye ring; yellow breast and underparts." To elaborate: The face and hood were a uniform gray. Hood went down to the chest. Clear border between gray hood and yellow belly, although there was a bit of white in some of the yellow feathers at the border. A few indistinct streaks on the sides. Yellow all the way down to the tail. This was a large warbler. No wing bars. It flew up from the ground and perched for several seconds on a branch 3-4 feet off the ground, 15 or 20 feet from me. Then it flew off into a brushy area. Location: From main parking lot (Willow Grove Farm entrance), walk back across the bridge. Turn right. The bird was near bird box #5-- not far at all from the bridge. It was in an area of brush and low trees. As I recall, Don Burggraf had a Mourning Warbler at Cromwell at some point in the last year. Don't know if there are other reports of Connecticuts. Peter Lev Towson, MD
