Howdy All! Sat - 9/25 After leaving Turkey Pt (see Leslie Fisher's post), George Jett and I birded Cecil and Kent Counties (wait, isn't Kent really in Delaware? <grin> ). At the entrance to Eastern Neck NWR a very cooperative SORA was in the same scope view as a CLAPPER RAIL. At the wharf we found a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER. Since the rest of the refuge was closed (young hunter's day), we drove over to John Brown Road where we had 40+ KILLDEERs and 3 AM GOLDEN PLOVERs (1 molting adult and 2 juv). Sun - 9/26 I joined the SMAS bird walk at Pt Lookout. Mosquitoes were abundant, but the birding was a little slow. Even so, we managed to dig up a very colorful PHILADELPHIA VIREO and looked up in time to see a MERLIN sail overhead. Mon - 9/27 Just came from southern St Marys County where Patty Craig found a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW and was kind enough to alert me soon enough to see it.
