Hi all: Another slowish morning at the watch, complicated by trying to pick Accipiters out of the hundreds ( shall we say a 1000 ) Blue Jays. A very grey morning with intermittent drizzle. Not a total bust though, with 55 raptors between 9 and 12. Those good old reliable SHARPIES dominated as always- 37. COOPS- 3 About 10ish I became restless and walked to the point for a change of scenery and immediately encountered 4 OSPREY leaving the SE end of the point ; these were low birds and very doubtful I would have seen them from the meadow. I think it logical to surmise that we are missing some birds from either location. On a day with many present, it would be interesting to run simultaneous counts from both spots to compare. Maybe we`ll have 2 counts locations with walkie/talkies when we get really big!!! Always dreaming. Others- 1 KESTREL, 1 PEREGRINE, 4 TV, 2 BE, 3 NORTHERN HARRIER. Non-raptors included building numbers of Jays, Flickers, Red-bellied Woodpeckers and Bluebirds. Also 1 RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD.
