[MDOsprey] Lake Roland report: 10-12-99

A beautiful day.  Sunshine, leaves turning, birds still around.  The
sighting of the day was a MERLIN, perched on a bare branch in the picnic
area.  This bird stayed put for quite awhile; finally we decided to move
on.  We saw 5 warbler species:  yellow-rumped (lots), blackpoll (5-6),
black-throated green, black-throated blue, and redstart.  Two
blue-headed vireos were singing in different parts of the park. 
Ruby-crowned kinglets were everywhere; golden-crowned kinglets also
around.  Overall, 21 birders saw 51 species of birds.
