Got a call today from Walt Graham, who reported to me that he saw an Eared Grebe about noon yesterday (Monday, 10/11/99) on the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in St. Mary's County, Maryland. He reported seeing the bird, with binoculars (Walt, not the bird, that is) about 50 yards offshore at the mouth of Goose Creek, which empties directly into Chesapeake Bay, just on the south side of Cedar Point. I drove by this area twice this afternoon, but didn't see any grebes. Will try again tomorrow. Patty, Greg -- Can you guys swing by, as well, whenever you get a chance. I tried to post this message this afternoon from work, but had some problems. I was certain that only a partial message went out (with nothing but a subject line and a few words) that would tease people horribly. I see now that nothing was posted. That's probably better than a partial post. I reminded Walt that Eared Grebe is a review species. He agreed to write it up and submit to MDDCRC.
