This morning the club held a weekday walk. We try to do 2 each month
and they are proving very popular. It seems there are folks that have
booked weekends and like to try weekday activities. We seem to have an
attendance record of 12-16 people.
We started at Alpha Ridge park. Now that the landfill is closed we had
just a couple flyover gulls, RING-BILLED and HERRING. We had some nice
flyovers that were heard only, PIPITS and PINE SISKINS( they were flying
toward your house Phil and Barbara and they should have reached you at
8:57 a.m.- I hope you saw them).!
There were lovely BLUEBIRDS everywhere! On fences, pokeweed, goldenrod
and trash cans (the least aesthetic but great looks anyhow). Chipping
sparrow were also in good numbers. An EASTERN MEADOWLARK flew overhead .
We then went over to the woodland road at Henryton. There we saw MORE
BLUEBIRDS which gave us a daily total of 25. We also heard 2-3 CREEPERS
but to the dismay of Mary Jo Betts we could never find them for visual
observation.
