The St. Mary's County, MD, Kelp Gull continues to be seen daily at the
Sea Breeze Restaurant pilings in Sandgates, MD, in case anyone is still
interested!
Seen by either visiting birders or reliable restaurant staff, the Kelp
Gull has been around for hours at a stretch each day for the past week (and
daily for the past six weeks). Spending a lot of time sitting on its
distinctively-colored legs, the Kelp Gull has frustrated many visiting
birders with its somnolent behavior; with patience, though, this week's
birders, including two vanloads from Arlington (VA) County, plus birders
from Vermont, Washington, New York, Massachusetts, and Michigan, did get to
see its legs and all other body parts, which now include a fully-plumaged
body.
