Hi folks,

There were *12* Saw-whets in the nets last night!
Mike Quinlan looked like a cat in an aviary this
morning. 8 of them were in one round. That
brings the total this season to 29, including one
recap. Better than last year's 4.

Sat we had about 85 songbirds, and today we had
88, both good days. Mostly Goldfinch and
sparrows. Today we had the first White-crowned
of the year, an immature with just a few white
specks up top. We are now up to 90 species for
the season, besting last year's 84.

Danny Bystrak and I separately saw a Green Heron
this weekend on the Marsh boardwalk. Danny said
it may be the latest he's ever seen one here.

Bonaparte's Gulls continue in small groups, and
Laughing Gulls are still in the hundreds, and the
Great Cormorant was still off our Railroad bed
trail on Saturday afternoon. Been there about a
week, mostly in the morning.

Good birding.

Charlie Muise
