Marion and I found the Pacific Loon Sunday morning (Nov. 28), about half way between the Baldfriar Road entrance and the down-river entrance. We searched from about 9 AM to just before noon from both entrances, seeing relatively few loons, and no other birders. The bird finally appeared near two or three Common Loons, more-or-less midway across the river. Fortunately the light was still good and we had excellent views of the plumage and structural features. Marshall Iliff joined us and the three of us watched it for 20 minutes or so. It did a lot of taxiing over the water surface, and finally took off, made several long, round-about, circuits up and down the river, and disappeared in flight, heading toward Pennsylvania when we lost sight of it.
