Hi folks, Merkle's pond hosted the following: 1 Ring-necked Duck 3 American Coots 5 Gadwall 2 Northern Shovellers ~15 Green-winged Teal ~20 Mallards The number of White-crowned Sparrows seems lower this year than in the past. Perhaps not unrelated, the number of House Sparrows is higher. I will be doing the Bluebird boxes this year (with help, I hope - any takers?) so hopefully this trend will reverse. The pond on the north side of Croom Airport Rd, just west of the tracks, hosted: 8-9 Gadwall 3 Northern Pintails ~12 Mallards Chesapeake Beach went from a few hundred Scaup sp. this morning, to at least 3000 this evening. Still didn't get any other _Aythya_, but I think it's worth a try with that number. They are visible from a number of locations, but the best this evening was behind Chaney's Bar. There were also scattered Buffleheads, a few Coots, and about 15 loons - all Commons, methinks. Have fun. I am off to Deal tomorrow!
