Howdy All! 12/17 (7:15am-9:45am) Just got back from birding at the Lark Sparrow spot...and WOW! What a morning out! Almost immediately (7:15am) I found an adult male Junco with thin, but distinct white wingbars. We chased the bird around and got more looks. Probably an aberrant "slate-colored", but still very interesting. About 8:00am near the construction area...WHAM! LARK SPARROW! After enjoying prolonged views for the next 15 minutes or so...KAPOW! 3 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLs fly overhead! Whew! We all looked at our watches. We figured we'd at least give a try for the Yellow-breasted Chat. With no success in Chat-land, we head up the row of tangles and brambles. Near the road a bunch of Field Sparrows flew up and moved excitedly from bush to bush. In the group of birds (prob by accident rather than association) was an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER!!! What a thrill! Three state lifers for me in less than 3 hrs!!! -still high... Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products.
