Gene Scarpulla, Bryan Blazie, and I covered the Cecil County landfill on the Elkton CBC on Saturday. Although gull numbers were quite high we had no real rarities and the lanbirding was extremely slow. Highlights were: Laughing Gull 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull 3 (2 ad, 1 1st winter) A bird I suspect was a 1st-winter California Gull, but which Gene and Bryan are uncertain about, was seen too briefly to be submitted. For one of the few times, Herrings greatly outnumbered Ring-bills (10,000 to 2,000), but that produced no white-wings for us, perhaps because the count is early in the period and the year had been exceptionally warm.
