Hi all,
I did a tour of some of the county's eastern spots, finding the following
(and leaving out the commoner species):
BLUE MASH NATURE TRAIL: Greater Scaup (1), Ring-necked Ducks, Green-winged
Teal (pair), female Hooded Merganser, small numbers of Buffleheads, Mallards,
both vultures, female American Kestrel, my 1st county Osprey of the year, a pair
of Killdeer, Pileated Woodpecker and N. Flickers, Tree swallow, Brown
Thrasher (6-7), many E. Towhees, Field Sparrows, Fox Sparrow (2), Swamp Sparrow, Song
Sparrow, and lots of Goldfinches and House Finches.
TUCKER LANE, ASHTON: my 1st singing Louisiana Waterthrush of the season, lots
of Field and White-throated Sparrows.
TRIADELPHIA LAKE RD.: Osprey, D.C. Cormorants, Golden-crowned Kinglets, E.
Bluebird, W.B. Nuthatches, Pine Warbler (up close and personal), Downy W.P.,
Tufted Titmouse and Chickadees.
GREENBRIDGE RD.: Common Loon (~10), Red-Breasted and Common Merganser, Horned
Grebe (nearly full breeding plumage).
SHIPE RD. (off Brighton Dam Rd.): nesting Canada Geese (2), pair of Wood
Ducks in Hawlings River, Eastern Phoebe.
