What a tremendous hawk flight on 04_07; How often do you get 500+ hawks
in a
day at Fort Smallwood?
Also, was there anything interesting about the weather pattern on 04_07.
It seems like the hawks got the jump on a High Pressure area to the South of
Fort Smallwood - that is now coming thru today ( 04_08).

Sunny to partly cloudy; 50-73 degrees; winds mostly from the W or WSW, 8-20
mph, gusting as high as 29.
Observations:
What a grand day - the skies loaded with birds most of the day: low, high,
very high, extremely high, and everywhere. New one-day record for Cooper's
Hawks (by one). Wonderful weather and great company.
Red-necked Grebe; first Caspian Tern of the season; probably a thousand
Tree Swallows; good numbers of Great Blue Herons, Common Loons, and Horned
Grebes.

Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest.
