Weather: late morning/early afternoon haze, partly
sunny/partly cloudy on/off all day then to partly
cloudy late afternoon, 48-55 degrees; winds mostly
from the southeast calm to 13 mph

Observations: Slow day due to southeast winds. Busy
hour between 9am-10am with 66 hawks. 6 local Ospreys
and 2 Red-tailed Hawks. Other birds in area, 41 Horned
Grebe, 1 Red-necked Grebe, many scaups of both
species, a lot of Bufflehead, 1 each flyby Caspian
and Forster's Tern, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 5
Red-throated and 4 Common Loon. **59 species total**

Non-Raptors Migrating: 61 Common Loon, 25
Double-crested Cormorant, 28 Great Blue Heron, 1 Great
Egret, 3 Tundra Swan, 1 Bonaparte's Gull, 2 Northern
Flicker (high flying), 78 Tree Swallow, 2 Northern
Rough-winged Swallow, 3 Barn Swallow, 9 American Pipit
49 Cedar Waxwing, 7 American Goldfinch

Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of
Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11
miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best winds are from the
southwest.
