I visited some areas of NW Carroll County today:

Taneytown - a flock of about 120 Pipits at the turf farm.

Sixes Bridge Road - both Vesper Sparrow and Savannah Sparrow were singing on territory, and a pair of Red-headed Woodpeckers were at a traditional site.

Mumma Ford - I heard a Warbling Vireo singing from the Frederick County side of the river. Also an occupied hawk nest with what appeared to be a buteo sitting on it. I believe it was a Red-shouldered but could only see the tip of the tail from one side and part of the head from the other. It was in a sycamore in the floodplain of the Monocacy which is adjacent to large farm fields.
