Hi all . A quick check 4 :30 pm to 5:30 pm of Wye Island
yesterday 4 - 19 - 04 . Just Before going around the real sharp
bend before the bridge in a field of cattle produced my first 04 Cattle
Egret. The Red Headed woodpecker still presant at Grannery Creek .
Starlings have taken the tree hole were I saw the Redhead at my last vist.
The ranger stopped to me and we had a brief catch up chat and that others
have seen 2 Red Headed woodpeckers else where on the Island and even
again elsewhere 2 coming to a bird feeder on privite land on the island
so that makes at least 4 Red Heads there. however all I have seen is
one. While at the bridge an immature Bald Eagle haressed An Osprey
out of its recently caught fish dinner the osprey dropped the fish And
neither bird had a fish then. Speaking of Osprey The new osprey Nest I
mentioned on my last Wye island post that looked like it would Fall from
its place on the electric pole did fall the pair was trying to rebuild
yesterday. They would carry corn stalks and weeds that fell again. Not a
stable place. There is a near by Duck blind That would be more stable But
not near as high from the ground. Other Birds presant Pair of Green Winged
Teal . several Doulble Creasted Cormorant, BlueJays , Cardinals, white
Throated Sparrows, pair of Mute Swan, Mockers, Robins , heard Carolina
Wren, Also Canada Geese residents .
Happy Birding
