This morning between 6:45am and 9:00am I birded one of my atlas blocks and
saw a Red-headed Woodpecker fly into a high perch and remain for a least a
full minute looking around. Then it flew down into a deeply wooded area and
I was unable to relocate it from the path through that part of the woods. I
was completely stunned to see it, and now I am compelled to keep looking for
it in my atlas block.

Again, did not see much but it was all good.

Wood Duck (1), female flying along the river
Chimney Swift
Red-bellied Woodpeckers (2), M + F both entering their nest cavity
Red-headed Woodpecker (1)
Hairy Woodpeckers (2), copulating - 2nd atlas upgrade in 3 days!
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
White-eyed Vireo (2), M + F, nesters in this block
Blue-headed Vireo (1), again, my patriotic vireo trio
White-breasted Nuthatch (3), finally, but still not within safe dates
Ruby-crowned Kinglets (many)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (few)
Hermit Thrush (2)
Gray Catbird (1)
Brown Thrasher (1), again and still not within safe dates
Yellow-rumped Warblers, (many)
Palm Warbler (1)
Black-throated Green Warbler (1)
Black and White Warbler (1)
Ovenbird (1)
Eastern Towhee (3)
White-throated Sparrows (many)

Around 6:30am as I was walking down my porch steps a group of about 50
Double-crested Cormorants flew quite low in V formation over my Hampden
(central Baltimore) neighborhood.

Such an exciting time!
