We have signed up to be nest box monitors and have a nest box that we can't
seem to peek into. We made this box from a kit last year. It has two long
slit openings on the top sides near the lid and off course the round hole
for the birds. The lid is nailed to the house. And there is no obvious way
to enter this house (it is mostly nailed together). We strongly believe
there are Chickadees nesting in it. We've tried various homemade mirror
items to view the inside but were unsuccessful. The box is on the deep side
probably about 9". Unless others have suggestions, we were wondering if we
would disturb the nest if we try to take out the nails in the lid and
replace them with screws? Or would this cause to much shock to the nest?
We may have to write this one off.
Thanks in advance
