I was at Conowingo Dam for a short visit this afternoon. There are about
a thousand Double-crested Cormorants on the rocks below the dam. Many
more were in the water and flying back and forth.

Eagles and Ospreys were on their respective nests.

In the Great Blue Heron rookery, there were at least 3 large white
birds. I assume that they were Great Egrets but did not have my scope to
confirm the species or that they were nesting.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
