Folks

This morning I had a pretty good loon flight for the short time before I started choirs. I counted up to 17 Common Loon, all in breeding plumage. I wonder do the ones more advanced in plumage migrate sooner.

Also from the deck or yard today birds of note were:

4 Double-crested Cormorants - heading south (#72 for the yard year list)
One adult Bald Eagle
One Red-shouldered Hawk
One Cooper's Hawk
22 Ring-billed Gulls in a V formation
One Tree Swallow, maybe more
One Ruby-crowned Kinglet feeding on insects around an ornamental plum tree
One Fox Sparrow - still
One Swamp Sparrow - still
Two Purple Finches - one male, one female. The male was singing.
And the usual stuff.

Maybe Glossy Ibis, Anhinga, or better tomorrow in Nanjemoy.

George
