I know that Jane Picot isn't on MDOsprey so I thought I'd forward this to the list. I think this may be the first report of Ruby-throated Hummer this year.

Just around 8pm today I heard a Wood Thrush "chucking" in the back yard. Jack Leighty and Susan Noble, in Huntingtown, had reported one this morning on the md-smas list. Probably my favorite bird song of all. We just love to wake up and hear them singing in the yard.

An addendum about the Anhinga. I had meant to mention that Jim could come halfway back off the limb. I couldn't believe that I had just read his post earlier in the day and only a few hours later, there was one! Jim, you need to predict something really outrageous next time ;) Hope the Swallow-tailed Kite puts in an appearance tomorrow.

Heads up guys and gals!

Our first ruby throated hummer had a long, single feed at our feeder at 6:30 pm tonight - thank goodness we had "local knowledge" that the 15th is the magic day, so the feeder has been up since yesterday morning!

Enjoy the same at your feeders!

Keep humming!

Jane
