Hello All, Pat Rose, Chris Ordiway and I spent late morning and most of
Saturday afternoon in the Point Lookout area. While the sunshine was a
welcome addition the large numbers of ticks were not, however we did get the
opportunity to see some good birds. Best birds of the day were 3 Broadwings,
2 Sharp-shinned Hawks, and 2 Upland Sandpipers on Longneck Rd. Other birds
of interest were numerous Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Golden-crowned Kinglets,
Hermit Thrushes, Purple Martins(at many nest boxes), many Eastern
Towhee(both male and female). The Upland Sandpipers were at the very end of
Longneck Rd in vegetation that was quite high but scattered and it was fun
playing "find the birds" for the 1/2 hr or so we spent there. It looks like
migration is starting to pick-up speed. Good Birding, Marty Cribb, Callaway,
St Mary's Co, Md
