Spent 4 hours Sunday looking for Prairie Warblers at Little Bennett. Heard
several but couldn't get a look. But this morning as we walked the
neighborhood through the din of White-throats, House Wrens, Towhees, etc, I
was stopped in my tracks by a single quiet song. About 50 feet off the road
in an overgrown meadow a Prairie Warbler was feeding and singing in a small
tree. He was very approachable and we got great looks. Probably not more
than 500 feet from our property but the song doesn't carry well enough to
count on the yard list. Anyone have a parabolic mike I can borrow? ;-)
