I birded my atlas block - Baltimore East, CE - this morning and despite the
chill and moderate wind had a very enjoyable walk. The highlight was a
Swainson's Thrush that flushed to a bare branch perch and remained for long,
excellent views. Also, a Hooded Warbler singing away. Others were as
follows:

Great Blue Heron
Turkey Vulture - being harrassed by the RSHA pair
Mallard - pair
Red-shouldered Hawk - pair
Herring Gull
Belted Kingfisher - 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Great Crested Flycatcher - 2
Red-eyed Vireo
Carolina Wren
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 3
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - many, also pair building nest
*Swainson's Thrush - 1
Hermit Thrush - 2
American Robin - pair
Gray Catbird - many pairs
Northern Parula - 2
Myrtle Warbler - many
Palm Warbler - 4 (Western)
Black and White Warbler - 2
Ovenbird - 2
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Hooded Warbler - 1
Eastern Towhee
Song Sparrow - 1
Swamp Sparrow - 4
*Blue Grosbeak - 1 heard singing only
N. Cardinal - several pairs
Red-winged Blackbird - many
Common Grackle
Brown-headed Cowbird - surprisingly only one pair
*Orchard Oriole - 1 male
American Goldfinch - everywhere

* first for me this year
