We had a Winsor Hill Neighborhood trail clean-up today
(in Leakin Park). This is a particular trial for me in the
Spring. You keep your eyes mostly to the ground as you
hunt for trash, and keep your binoculars covered to protect
them from flying bits of debris. It is a great opportunity for
birding by ear, and Catbirds add to the challenge.

I did hear the thin, whistled call of a Broad-winged Hawk
today, and saw two in the sky. The whole group did not
fail to hear a vocal Red-shouldered Hawk near by. Two were
seen. Warblers were limited to a Black and White, Northern
Parulas and Ovenbirds. A Scarlet Tanager was also heard.
Chickadees were noticeably absent. I did not encounter a
single one.
