Since I won't be getting out this weekend I spent some time today at the
McKeldin area of PVSP (Carroll Co) and the Liberty Dam Trail (Balto Co). Migrants
were scarce but activity picked up a bit when the sun came out. Highlights
were a male HOODED WARBLER, a close-up PROTHONOTARY, and an unseen KENTUCKY
WARBLER. No Wood-Pewees yet, and no catharus thrushes. But, no Blackpolls either,
so maybe some good days are yet to come. A few highlights:

Wood Duck - hen with ducklings in swampy part of woods, Liberty Dam Trail
Acadian Flycatcher - everywhere
Great Crested Flycatcher
Yellow-throated & Red-eyed Vireo
N. Parula - abundant; 2 males foraging very low and close at Liberty Dam
Trail parking area.
Magnolia - 1, McKeldin
BT Blue - 3 McKeldin, 1 Liberty
Myrtle
B&W Warbler
Am. Redstart
Prothonotary - 1 between trail & river, Liberty Dam
Worm-eating - 6 McKeldin, 2 Liberty; these seem especially numerous this year
Ovenbird
LA Waterthrush
Kentucky Warbler - 1 heard in swampy woods, Liberty Dam Trail
Yellowthroat
Hooded Warbler - 1 singing across stream from purple trail, uphill from white
trail before rapids; seemed to be on territory
Scarlet Tanager
RB Grosbeak - 3 McKeldin
