I am a homeschooling parent who is interested in starting a bird club for beginning birders. Before I posted this request here, I took a poll from our homeschooling list to see if other members would be interested. I received a reply from 9 families including 18 children (age range 5-15 years old). Most kids fall in the elementary school age bracket. My vision for this would be to engage a seasoned birder (not myself) to lead occasional bird walks at areas in or near Baltimore. By occasional I mean a walk a month or every other month. I think a 1-2 hour walk would be a good time frame. Maybe we could begin by covering some tips on identification, terms, birds to look for in that area, etc. I would prefer these to take place during the daytime on a weekday either a Mon/Wed/Fri. If there is anyone out there that would be interested in helping me get this started, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you,
Michelle Dunn
