Hi --

Rather a hot, quiet morning at Rock Creek as many of the birds around
yesterday apparently took advantage of the good migratory weather and left,
while relatively few came in. However perseverance managed to tally a good
list although again, many birds were heard only. Most frustrating -- a
constantly singing Kentucky Warbler just off Military Field, very high
(50-60') in the canopy and only glimpsed in flight from tree to tree (except
for one brief, unsatisfactory, view in the bins by yours truly.)

Did tick one vagrant from Italy -- Ottavio Janni appeared at the ridge, back
in his old haunts for a few days!

Warblers: Kentucky (1), Black-and-White (1), Black-throated Blue (4),
Blackpoll (12), Bay-breasted (1), Canada (1), Chestnut-sided (1), Parula
(~8), Redstart (3), Nashville (1), Ovenbird (5), Palm (1, western),
Yellowthroat (5), seen by others: Magnolia, Tennessee, No. Waterthrush (all
singles, I think). No sign of the Wilson's in Military Field.

Others: Rose-breasted Grosbeak (2), Scarlet tanager (10), Red-eyed Vireo
~10), seen/heard by others: YB Cuckoo, Swainson's and Gray-cheeked Thrushes.
