Sunday we managed to drag ourselves away from yardwork long enough
to take a run down the ORV Zone on Assateague, with the following
results:

Double-crested Cormorant 7
Great Egret 3
Turkey Vulture 2
Osprey 3
Killdeer 3
American Oystercatcher 8
Willet 78
Whimbrel 90 (could easily have been more than 100)
Ruddy Turnstone 13
Sanderling 4
Laughing Gull 42
Herring Gull 19
Glaucous Gull 1 (2nd year bird--gorgeous shining white when it
flew)
Great Black-backed Gull 48
Royal Tern 9
Least Tern 9
Mourning Dove 1
Eastern Kingbird 5
White-eyed Vireo 1
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Fish Crow 1
Tree Swallow 1
Barn Swallow 9
House Wren 2
American Robin 12
Gray Catbird 6
Yellow Warbler 1
Prairie Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 23
Eastern Towhee 2
Field Sparrow 12
Song Sparrow 15
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 1
Red-winged Blackbird 10
Eastern Meadowlark 17
Common Grackle 3
Boat-tailed Grackle 26
House Finch 2

We stopped at the borrow pit along Rt. 50 in Wicomico County on the
way home later that day but we dipped on the Black-necked Stilt.
Such is life...

Best,
Norm & Fran
