Howdy all,

I had a great find on wed. while working at Point Lookout... red-headed woodpeckers! There's a pair hanging around in the camp grounds and they don't look like they are going anywhere. Hopefully they'll nest. And to think, I went all the way to Nanjemoy and enlisted Mike Callahans help to get this species and they ended up in my own back yard.

While I'm here I might as well update. I had my first ever Blackpoll Warblers yesterday on the trails of St Mary's City, there were two or three other species but they stayed high in the trees and I had no luck identifying them. And last sunday we made a half-day trip to Flag Ponds in Calvert and I ended up with eight more Life birds: Ovenbird, Acadian Flycatcher, Great Crested Flycatcher, Least Sandpiper (12 of them), Prairie Warbler, Worm Eating Warbler, Scarlet Tanager and Red Eyed Vireo. It was a pretty good day I'd say.

Good luck & Good birding.
