Frank,
Spatterdock, also spelled spatter-dock, aka, Cow-lily, yellow Pond-lily. It
is the water lily with the tight yellow flowers which is all over the large
impoundment on the left at Hughes Hollow
Many thanks to Frank for asking the question and many thanks to Rick for
answering! It's been driving me crazy too. It's not exactly an intuitive leap
from "spatterdock" to water lily, I must say. :-)
